Range & load-path review
A three-axis load cell separates normal and shear forces at one mounting interface. The MXL-3A family is planned around mechanically orthogonal sensing beams and three independent full-bridge outputs. Select the shear and axial capacities separately: an equal-range configuration and an Fz range twice the shear range solve different load cases.
Use cases: Robotic grinding, pin-on-disk friction testing, tire and bearing development.

One measurement chain
A raw bridge output needs compatible excitation and signal conditioning. Simultaneous sampling keeps rapidly changing axis signals aligned. A calibrated digitizer can apply the correct conversion and present forces in newtons.
Plan three synchronized bridge channels for Fx, Fy and Fz. Confirm the selected module supports your output, sample rate and latency.

Ftotal = √(Fx² + Fy² + Fz²). The ratio μ = √(Fx² + Fy²) / |Fz| assumes Fz is aligned with the known surface normal and quasi-static contact. It is not a general surface-angle measurement. Illustrative math only; no live sensor data.
Engineering questions
No. 50 N is approximately 11.24 lbf; 10 lbf is approximately 44.48 N. Select a rated range with adequate overload margin.
No. The sensing architecture determines whether independent bridge scaling is sufficient. Confirm residual crosstalk and whether the selected calibrated configuration needs compensation.
We need the exact model revision, mounting drawing, pinout, bridge excitation, calibration and operating load case. Compatibility is confirmed by a configuration-specific review.
