Range & load-path review

Separate measured components from mechanical limits.

A miniature triaxial force sensor must balance footprint, stiffness, signal level and cable strain relief. MXL-3M targets compact three-axis measurement where the sensing package is part of the mechanism. The smallest package and highest capacity are separate configuration targets; they are not a combined specification.

Use cases: Dexterous fingers, surgical robot research, microelectronics insertion testing.

These are requested family targets and planning identifiers, not released model specifications. Request an approved drawing, axis-specific calibration and combined-load limits before purchase.

One measurement chain

Specify the bridge, timing and engineering units together.

A raw bridge output needs compatible excitation and signal conditioning. Simultaneous sampling keeps rapidly changing axis signals aligned. A calibrated digitizer can apply the correct conversion and present forces in newtons.

Plan three synchronized bridge channels for Fx, Fy and Fz. Confirm the selected module supports your output, sample rate and latency.

Ftotal = √(Fx² + Fy² + Fz²). The ratio μ = √(Fx² + Fy²) / |Fz| assumes Fz is aligned with the known surface normal and quasi-static contact. It is not a general surface-angle measurement. Illustrative math only; no live sensor data.

Engineering questions

Check the assumptions behind the numbers.

How small is an ultra-compact three-axis sensor?

The requested MXL-3M family envelope is Ø15–30 mm with thickness targets down to 8 mm. Dimensions require an approved configuration drawing.

Can a compact sensor measure force at a fingertip?

Review the finger load path, local coordinate frame, contact offset, cable forces and combined load envelope before selection.

Can this replace an existing sensor without redesign?

We need the exact model revision, mounting drawing, pinout, bridge excitation, calibration and operating load case. Compatibility is confirmed by a configuration-specific review.

Synchronized electronics & calibration requests

Budget additions are planning values, subject to configuration and quotation. Select either or both electronics options for review. Compatible existing DAQ can be retained; platform channel counts are assessed separately. Software, calibration scope and interface support require confirmation.
